During the 1960's & 70's 'Pistol' Pete Maravich was a miracle ball handler and flawless shooter. His basketball training began as a small child with relentless hours of dribbling drills and shooting practice every single day. He still holds the highest scoring average in NCAA history of 44.2 ppg (had there been a 3-point line then, a mind-blowing 57 ppg). After 10 years as a prime-time NBA showman, an injury forced his retirment and began an unfortunate spiral into alcoholism. He then became a recluse, exploring yoga, Hinduism, macrobiotics, studying Catholic Trappist, Thomas Merton and even taking an interest in UFOlogy. In 1982, he became a Christian and began traveling the US sharing his new found faith. Sadly, exactly 21 years ago today, Maravich died suddenly during a church pickup game because of a previously undetected congenital heart defect. His final words, spoken less than a minute before he collapsed, were "I feel great." You've gotta admit, he really did it all.....

Gallucci is in the studio for New Year's Eve/Day to record an akwardly medium-sized group of songs. You may have heard them if you've come to a gig recently.... too much or too little? No-one knows.

More Gallucci gigs @ 'The Place' in 2009..... We've gotta go record these songs now, and then do some practice for a tour of grand proportions! Exciting times.

If you've ever enjoyed the strange jazz influenced guitar sounds infused into Wilco's last album Sky Blue Sky, you're already well aware of Nels Cline. In the mid-to-late 90's the Nels Cline Trio recorded 3 great (though yes, slightly obscure) albums - Ground, Chest & Sad. Together they represent a great period in Nels' guitar work. His very unique strumming has also been heard on some great projects over the years with Mike Watt, Thurston Moore and plenty more too....

Did you know that there are constantly ultra cheap collections of National Geographic Magazines being sold on ebay (well, in Australia atleast). On multiple ocassions I've paid $20-$30 for 10+ years worth - insane. But, be sure to put them somewhere very prominent on your bookshelf, or you'll never end up spending any time with them. The BBC World Service (if you don't know) is a shortwave radio service, which means it can cover some very serious miles - hence the word 'World'. For instace, listening to the World Service was the only way the locals near Chernobyl knew there was a nuclear meltdown happening in '86 (the Soviet Govt. were quiet) and perhaps they should put some space between themselves and it! Gallucci has aquired an Alto Saxophone in it's lineup as we start working on album #3. After first meeting at the bus stop on the way to Eldeslie High School in 1997, Alex Wray (better known as 'Lex Lex Son of X') is now 25 years old, stands 5'11", of wiry build.He enjoys Pink Floyd, Ice Hockey and long romantic walks on the beach (with reverbed 80's sax in the background obviously).....

Gallucci has just moved into a new practice spot right in the guts of Sydney in Darlinghurst. We've called it 'The Place To Be' - There's the alley with junkies, hookers & weekend boozed alley-rats (not to mention the real rats), plus a brothel on one side of us, a gay gym on the other, a 'massage' place upstairs, and a prohibition style liquor hold beneath. But we're planning to put up a basketball ring to foster community spirit. Welcome to the neighbourhood?! At least there is good cheap Italian food nearby. Like our feature wall of foam?

Kermit Roosevelt, Jr. not only had a great name, but was a James Bond-like CIA man - key in removing Mohammed Mossadeq from power in Iran in 1953. In Operation Ajax he firstly put 80% of the Iranian Press onto his payroll, writing daily stories calling Mossadeq a British agent, a Jew and a homosexual. Next, he hired a gang leader known as 'Shaban The Brainless' to run the streets with his mob, smashing shops, firing guns into Mosques and being generally violent around the place - all the while yelling "We love Communism and we love Mossadeq!" Not feeling this was sufficient, he then hired another mob to attack the first mob, putting the country into a state of total chaos. All of this and many more insane exploits (see CIA document: Overthrow of Premier Mossadeq Of Iran) set the scene for the coup d'état and re-installed the Shah - which eventually led to the Iranian Revolution. What a mess!

Gallucci - Buscemi Battles the Memory Robots (Flaming Lips) - It's pronounced Boo-Se-Mi you Idiots!

Time for Gallucci to head down south to see the sights....... Still one of my favourite flyers too. The Prahran Skatepark gig became plenty memorable when an almost fist-fight with a bunch of irate residents from the nearby apartments broke out mid-set. Quick on his feet, Clint from SFK asked one of them for a light...... Don't touch our Jenni!

Saved By Curb! In 2004, Curb Your Enthusiasm was credited with helping clear a Los Angeles man, Juan Catalan of first-degree murder. Catalan maintained his innocence, saying he was at a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game on May 12, 2003, at the time of the slaying. Coincidentally, during the Dodgers vs. Braves game an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm was being shot, and outtake footage was found showing Juan Catalan with his daughter at Dodger Stadium. Larry David later commented in a New Yorker article, "I tell people that I've now done one decent thing in my life. Albeit inadvertently. To quote Larry "If you ever need a blowjob at a reasonable price.......... this is your girl!

This post is to commemorate one of the most excellent moments of the Jenni-Tour, with a visit to Bondi Beach Skatepark for a midnight gig, Nov 23/24th 2006. A confused but appreciative crowd soon gathered as loud sounds were made by Gallucci, unfortunately this led to the police paying a visit, with one officer obliging for the customary yanking of the power cable from the jenni (why didn't we just hard-wire that thing?). During this period G'cci played a number of skateparks; Marulan, Bondi, Prahran, Maroubra, Fernside/Waterloo, Lumeah, Moorebank, St Ives..... I think a few more too.

Obviously getting a little too confident at the time, Gallucci organised two totally disastrous screenings of 'The Year Punk Broke' in Byron Bay & Goulburn. In both cases, we played to one (likely unsatisfied) person. Let the good times roll in the year that punk almost broke us! Only upside was Andy Cowland (from Further) on bass guitar for one gig....

"Melbourne Water can only enforce the by-law if there is an 'entry prohib' sign which kids mostly snag for their bedroom door. We rang Melbourne's 'Dob in a Drainer' hotline to get a recorded message about calling back in office hours. Entering service or steam tunnels can be risky but just leave the place, including entrance and exit as found. Potentially, the worst trouble we have gotten into was back in the 80's when the fed police came to the door with a telephone book sized file on us, asking for the fake name our p.o.box was in. We told them the guy moved to Perth. They asked 'was he into dungeons and dragons?"

At 5'7" Spud Webb was one of the shortest players to ever lace up in the NBA. With 12 seasons from 1985-98, the zinger of his career was winning the '86 NBA Slam Dunk Contest by defeating defending champion & Atlanta Hawks teammate Dominique Wilkins who dunked it out with Jordan in '85. Apparently he'd never seen Spud dunk, and Webb told him he hadn't prepared anything or practiced.... He apparently first dunked a 10ft ring when standing just 4'11'.

What the hell is the 'Everlasting Jenni-Tour'? Well, it's No Stages, All Ages, Playing Anywhere, No Soundchecks, and of course the Generator (Jenni) giving us 'light'. Everlasting refers to Gallucci's refusal to roll over and just bloody die. Good times and Bad times all at once - DYI (that's 'Do-Yourself-In') at it's best.........

In early 1983, this single flick 'Morning Mist, Rock Island Bend' by Peter Dombrovskis became incredibly influential over the Australian public - to the point where it may have decided the federal election that year in favour of Bob Hawke and the Labor Party. With the discussion about flooding the Franklin River in Tasmania raging and tipping toward building the proposed dam, this amazing time-lapse photograph appeared full-page in the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age with the caption 'Could you vote for the party that would destroy this?'. I'm pretty sure I know which lever I would have pulled...... had I been alive.

Our first album, Soca Punk! You can download it here - but we are really asking that you don't. This fair and reasonable review from Skratch magazine in the US comminicates it well;

"Confusion about Gallucci will eternally reign after listening and researching this band. You're left asking yourself, "Is this a joke? Are you serious?" Musically, this band is absolute chaos, as they create a mixture of grindcore and rock, trying to come across as art. Professionally, Gallucci is a trainwreck. On their disastrous Website, the band claims, "We recorded this album to find band members." So why am I wasting my time? Well, it's my job as a SKRATCH writer to look at all material objectively...but this has to be the biggest piece of wasted plastic to ever enter my mailbox. Avoid this band. -Luke Skywalker"
But, you will find Andy Cowland (from Further) on bass and Clint Hyndman (from Something For Kate) on drums - so I guess that's something. A beginning I guess - Amateur but Energetic. Certainly better than staying at home anyway.

The next important step in forming a band was to take some arty looking photos of ourselves, photoshopping in Dr. Adem Terrett as the 3rd arm...... Mission Complete!
